I am an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience. I support adults experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, stress, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the emotional impact of illness, injury and major life changes.
Much of my career has focused on helping people adjust to life after serious injury and trauma. I have led the psychology service within a regional Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Unit and worked within a Major Trauma service, supporting individuals and their families as they navigate the emotional and practical challenges that often accompany sudden, life-changing events.
I also have extensive experience working with people living with long-term health conditions, including Long Covid, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). I understand that persistent health problems can affect every aspect of life, including relationships, work, identity and emotional wellbeing. Together, we can explore ways of managing these challenges so that you can reconnect with what matters most to you.
My therapeutic approach
My therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practice. I have completed specialist training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), allowing me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, preferences and goals.
I have a particular interest in the relationship between the mind, body and nervous system. To deepen my understanding of this connection, I completed yoga teacher training, which has enhanced my appreciation of how breath, movement and body awareness can support emotional regulation and psychological wellbeing. Where appropriate, I integrate these principles alongside evidence-based psychological therapies to help clients develop practical, sustainable ways of managing distress and improving their wellbeing.
What therapy involves
My aim is to listen carefully to what you’re experiencing and to understand your perspective, without making assumptions about what you need. We’ll work together to make sense of what’s bringing you to therapy.
It’s very likely that I’ll develop a written psychological formulation with you — that’s a fancy term for what is essentially a shared map of what we understand about your difficulties, what might be keeping things going, and what could help. This gives us something concrete to come back to as we work together and helps guide the direction of therapy.
At the end of each session, we’ll agree on a small, achievable task to focus on between sessions. This might involve noticing your thoughts and emotions, practising a new skill, or trying something that moves you closer to the life you want to live. You could call these between-session tasks ‘homework’, but the idea is simply to help you put what you’ve explored in therapy into practice in your everyday life. Small changes, repeated over time, can make a meaningful difference.
