Yoga isn’t just about trying to get your body into increasingly improbable shapes…
Through regular practice we can learn more about ourselves, find ways to recognise and release difficult emotions as well as develop strength, flexibility and balance in body and mind.
Whether you’re new to yoga or have been to some classes and are now curious to go a little deeper, a course is a great way to explore yoga beyond the physical postures.
Most courses I teach consist of 5-8 lessons which are weekly. Each 75 minute class will involve:
- Breath awareness and control (pranayama)
- Meditation
- A variety of physical postures (asanas)
- Flowing sequences of physical postures (vinyasas)
- Relaxation practice to finish

Each course has a theme. Here are some examples from previous courses: linking breath with movement; focus & intention; effort & ease; opening up; natural rhythm; humble warrior...
Each class has a different emphasis whilst continuing to build on what you have learned before. This will give you an opportunity to notice your own personal development and to try out more challenging variations if you want to.

Who are these courses for?
Adults age 18 +. Yoga can help anyone to improve their wellbeing. Being able to touch your toes is not a requirement! You do not need to be particularly flexible, strong or experienced to take part.
The courses include a mixture of standing, seated and lying practices, so being comfortable moving between standing and the floor is helpful. If you have any concerns about this, please get in touch before booking and I’d be happy to discuss whether the course would be suitable for you.
Courses are particularly well suited to beginners and those with some experience who would like to develop their practice. If you are new to yoga, or haven’t practised for a while, a course can be a great way to gain a grounding in the different elements of yoga as well as to notice your progression.

A range of options will be offered for each physical posture, breathing practice, meditation and relaxation practice, so that you can choose what feels right for you. Before the course, I’ll ask you to complete a confidential health questionnaire and may discuss this with you so that I can offer suggestions to suit your individual needs.
There are a maximum of 14 places on each course. This is smaller than the average yoga class and deliberately so. I like to get to know my students and create a friendly, supportive atmosphere where people can feel part of a small community. In yoga, this is known as sangha — a community of people who come together to practice and support one another.

The next 7 week course will run from 8th September to 20th October.
Tuesdays 6.30-7.45pm
